CANADA FIRST ACADEMY IS THE BEST

My Story: Sauna Director Muruka shares his experience

I joined Canada First Academy as an assistant Coach for the Under-8 team in the summer of 2021 alongside Head Coach Yusuf Kyambadde. Kyambadde introduced me to the Academy’s Technical Director Rene Kwol who I shared with my sports history on and off the pitch.

Rene warmly welcomed me into the family and I immediately started work with the kids.

In the season of 2021, we played a total of 13 games, won 10, drew 2 and lost only 1. The academy is a place that brings lots of joy and happiness simply because you work with kids alongside their parents who attend all the training sessions.

This in a way creates a strong bond not only with the kids but with their parents as well.

After the 2021 season, I enrolled for a course in social work and this greatly affected my availability with the academy. I had to take time off. It was a very difficult decision because I was so attached to the kids.

The academy is a place to grow, learn and socialize with persons/kids from various backgrounds. It’s another home away from home.

Developing talent isn’t the only thing at the academy. You also learn how to grow as an individual because you also learn from your fellow coaches, the parents and the kids.

As a coach, I appreciate the administrators and the entire coaching staff for the passion and love they bring everyday as they develop and nurture these future stars. Canada First Academy will always remain home.
